Samuel's Baptism

Samuel's baptism was today and it went perfect! We had him baptized at Christ the King Church in Brockton which is now our new parish. It was such an honor for us to make Michelle and Luigi Samuel's Godparents, Cookie and I both know that we made a great choice in selecting them and know that they will do a fantastic job!!! Samuel's baptism was a bit different then Elijah's and every other Catholic baptism I have seen....he was naked! Yup, this parish has gone back to basics and they have a baptism pool that they dip the baby's backside in instead of pouring the water of their head. Cookie and I were both a bit weary of this but I have to say it was really nice. After his baptismal dip by the priest we put him in his gown. The baptism gown was the same one that Elijah wore which is actually my wedding dress and we had it made in to a gown for our family. Secretly I hope that one day I will have a daughter in-law that is nice enough to use it for my grandchildren and continue to pass it down, fingers crossed the boys each meet a woman as nice as their mother.

After the church we had family and close friends back to the house for lunch and dessert. I think everyone had a nice time, I know that we did! Thank you to everyone who came to share in Samuel's special day it was an honor to have you all there!

HE DID IT!!!

Great & exciting news, Samuel rolled over today!!!! Sadly I was not home and I missed it but Cookie got to share in a "first" which was super exciting for him!

Field Trip

The boys and I went on a field trip today to the Brockton Public Library. In an effort to keep us busy and out of the house a few days a week I have added the library to my short list. Recently, I signed Elijah up for a fall story hour at the library that will be starting soon so I figured I should bring him there a time or two before hand so he is familiar with it. So, today was the day we ventured to the library. While walking in I explained to him what it was and how he had to behave. We enter the main door and are about to go into the children's section and I tell Elijah this is where we come to borrow books to read, would you like to go pick one out? Yes peas! I open the door and send him in ahead of me and he looks around all wide eyed and LOUDLY says, "WOW MOM LOOK AT ALL THE BOOKS!!" Elijah loved the library we stayed for about forty-five minutes during that time we did a few puzzles and picked out two books to check out and bring home.

I love watching the day unfold through Elijah's eyes it always amazes me how everything is just so new!

Wondering why I have not blogged in over a week....

Samuel NEVER sleeps!!!!!!!!! He is awake all day long! No matter what I do I can not seem to get him to nap & night time is not much better. I think the reason this is extremely frustrating is because he was a good sleeper and then just one day he wasn't. Everyone keeps telling me it's a growth spurt or he is teething but whatever the reason is the outcome is the same, I have a messy house and I am behind in everything! On the up side of Samuel is that when he is awake which as I mentioned is ALWAYS he is happy! He is the happiest baby ever! He loves to chat, to laugh, to sing, to watch Elijah do anything, and currently his favorite toy is his feet which he is constantly reaching for.

Elijah is busy busy busy as usual and has been making me laugh the past week with just the ideas and things that come out of his mouth. Here are a few examples:

Our very nice neighbor Karla came to give us some veggies from her garden last week & while she was here Elijah so kindly come over to say hello and tell her he does playdoh poops, she nicely said OHHH and he responed yeah I pooped playdoh & Pugsley does too!

Sunday night while going to bed I closed the door saying my usual tomorrow we will do something fun & he then requested we fly in a helicoptor, my response I'll see what I can do. Sure enough I had to break his heart the next morning when he asked when we were doing on the helicoptor.

Two weeks ago in the checkout at Target Elijah was telling the cashier that his daddy working over and over again because he would nout respond to him finally I translate to the cashier and said "his daddy is working" she responds to Elijah "oh your daddy working" his response "yes my daddy working & he is brown" She simply nodded.

Ok well smiling Sammy has kindly puked all over himself so I need to go and clean him up and try to get him down for a nap....fingers crossed!

Weekend Update....

We had such a nice weekend. Cookie finally had a weekend off and we were all able to spend some time together as a family. I have to admit I really look forward to the weekends to not only have some time with my husband but to also have an extra hand with the boys.

Friday evening we went to Friendly's for dinner and it was a success! Elijah does not eat out very well but I am determined to make it so we are not stuck in the house eating home all the time so I thought hey maybe Friendly's would work and I was craving a slice of watermelon roll. Everything went perfect he sat well, ate well, and even finished most of his dessert. Samuel of course was perfect and just happy to smile and chat to the table next to us. Elijah was excited because since he had been so good he got to pick out a balloon to take home! I think Friendly's might be our new Friday night hand out.

Saturday it rained and rained and rained!!!! I started my day grocery shopping solo which is such a treat while Cookie and the boys hung out at the house. After nap time we headed over to visit with Great Grandma and Grandmere. Samuel loves his Great Grandma and was just laughing away while she sang to him. Elijah was thrilled to go for a visit and finally get some decent chicken and rice. He loves his Grandmere's chicken and rice and will request it from me at least once a week. Unfortunately I do not even come close to making chicken or rice half as good as my mother in laws. After hanging out, playing, and eating a great Haitian meal it was time to head home and put the boys to bed.

Sunday we headed to Canobie Lake park for Cookie's company picnic. The weather was perfect & so wasn't out adventure. Once getting to the park we had lunch and then headed over to kiddy land to check out the rides. Elijah had a blast and loved them. He was so funny to watch, most kids wave at their parents, yell, or laugh not Elijah he just had a goofy grin on the entire time. His favorite part of the day was the train ride. He is obsessed with trains and riding on them so once he saw the train that went around the park we had to go on it. We waited in line for almost a half hour for that darn train ride but it was worth it, Elijah and Samuel both loved it. While on the train Cookie and I decided that it was time to call it a day. The boys both of course were passed out on the way home. Elijah seemed to really have a great time it's all he talked about all night!

There it is that was our weekend....nothing too exciting but it was great!

FLIPPIN' TYPO!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to address it.....Yes I know that there is a typo on the invitations to Samuel's baptism. I swear I read and reread those dang things before sending them out but I guess that is what happens when you have a toddler at your feet and a baby on your boob and you try to do invitations. So I am sorry & very embarrassed that I sent them not perfect & I hope that everyone understands how it could happen.

OK well we are off the Canobie Lake Park today for a Comcast Company picnic so I will blog about that later. Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Baptism Prep Class

We had our baptism prep class tonight and brought Elijah with us. On the way there we were chatting and I told him we were going to church, he then asked "Mom, whats church?" I paused and briefly explained it's where we go to pray and tell him it's God's house hoping he might slightly get it since we say the Our Father most nights. So, we get to church and he was great sat well and used his "inside" voice most of the time. Class had ended and Cookie was waiting outside with Samuel while Elijah and I gathered up our stuff. We are walking up the isle and we get to the doors to leave and Elijah turns around and waves and in his loudest voice says "Bye Bye God, see ya!!!"

A visit to the doctor

"Babe, we need to call the doctor" were the words I woke up to this morning. Cookie had gone in to get Elijah this morning and let me sleep a few extra minutes but that did not last very long. Much to Cookie's surprised he opened Elijah's door to find him with the left half of his face SWOLLEN. It was awful, his eye was swollen his cheek looked like he had a golf ball in there and his poor lips & mouth were so swollen he was drooling like a baby. I called the doctor's office when the opened at 9am made an appt and saw the dr at about 11am to find out that Elijah was bitten by a mosquito and had a bad reaction. I felt like such a jerk for taking him in for what was a mosquito bite! So, it still looks swollen but he is not complaining at all and it surely has not slowed him down. I hope that when he gets up tomorrow that it looks much better because it is hard to say no to him with half his face swollen. I post pictures once I get them up loaded. Oh and just some knowledge that I learned from Dr.Chung today mosquitoes like to hang out on the ceiling and in door jams if you are ever looking for one that has attacked your child. He also told me that if I ever can not find said mosquito that has been trying to eat my children to climb into Elijah's bed pull the covers up over my head and breath very rapidly and it will draw them to the bed.....now that would be a sight me in a toddler bed.
